How to Succeed, Get Rid of the Bitterness! (Part I)
Ep. 4:31, “Get rid of all bitterness, rage, and anger.” Anger is often the product of frustrated expectations. We expect something and when we don’t get it, we end up disappointed and angry. And our anger leads to a dysfunctional personal, spiritual, and relational lifestyle. God instructs us to “get rid of all bitterness”, so that “no bitter root grows up to create trouble and defile many.” Hebrews 12:15. “Get rid of all bitterness” is an order that implies the promise of success when you obey it.
How to obey God’s command to “get rid of all bitterness”?
- By accepting and acting on God’s Word. Without a biblical foundation, old emotions will continue to undercut one’s effort to overcome anger and bitterness.
- By choosing to be released from bitterness. Trusting and believing the Word of God plus making the decision to obey it always results in success. Must strengthen your will and faith by always choosing to obey God despite one’s feelings.
If learn to “get rid of all bitterness”, you will find yourself “reigning in life” (Romans 5:17), no longer controlled by one’s negative emotions.
